Notes from Barbara

My favorite male opera singer is Andrea Bocelli who is blind.

I also like country/western/cowboy music and oldies from the 50's and 60's--Yes, I am a baby boomer--Yuppie--!
George Strait, Adrian, Michael Martin Murphy, Dave Stamey, Bar J Wranglers, Doc and the Lady and Riders in the Sky are some of my favorites.

I enjoy flowers and working in the yard.

Researching subjects for courses invigorates me.

 

 

I was the first born child of the late LaDell and Ivanore H. Denny.

With LaDell, a Southerner from Louisiana and Ivanore, a Yankee from Pennsylvania, I ended up with the best of both worlds.

I have 1 brother, Kerry Lynn Denny, who is married to Sheila Gaspard. Her son, Bryan Gaspard is part of our family. They reside in Baton Rouge, LA.
Kerry has many businesses there and Sheila is a Medical Technologist.

I developed an early interest in history and genealogy before graduating from Robert E. Lee High School in Baton Rouge and still enjoy historical travels. I am an avid genealogist and enjoy helping others with researching their family trees.

The class quote assigned to me was, "Happiness is made to be shared." I try very hard to bring happiness to other people by sharing my God-given talents.

 

 

I received my undergraduate degree from Southeastern Louisiana University and my Masters Degree from Louisiana State University, then met and married Brooks Lloyd George while finishing my Doctorate Degree at L.S.U. in Baton Rouge, LA. We moved to Texas.

Brooks was born in LA to David Lloyd and Virginia B. George.
He is the local representative for Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, based out of Wisconsin. He has one sister, Jill who is married to Bob Bufkin. They have 2 girls who are married: Brooke who married Ryan Stege (parents of the new arrival) and Katie who married Dan Demases.

Brooks enjoys accordion festivals and we do attend the International Festival in San Antonio, TX every year.

We have recently become interested in Cowboy Poetry Gatherings and Single Action and Cowboy Action Shooters.

We officially got hooked at the Heber City, Utah Cowboy Poetry Gathering in 2007 and have plans to attend every year. We have been to Rawhide, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO and New Braunfels, TX and will broaden our attendance at such gatherings as time and money allow. We enjoy dressing in period clothing and listening to the cowboy/cowgirl poets and Cowboy/Cowgirl singing. We are just learning about the Single Action Shooters, joined SASS and hope to visit more clubs and practice some shooting. We have been to Fredericksburg, San Antonio, Oakwood, and Groesbeck, TX, and Phoenix, AZ. We are pictured here at the Tin Star Christmas Shoot held at the Tin Star Ranch in Fredericksburg, TX.

We enjoy traveling, camping and grandchildren.

Stacye Lynn Leathem

Graduated from Louisiana State University majoring in English and went on to Paralegal School in Atlanta, GA. She works for a corporation in Louisana.

She is married to Dyton John Leathem (DJ),
President of Unique Restorations in Louisiana.
They have two wonderful children: Kayla (oldest) and Meagan (youngest).

They enjoy sports.

 

 

 

Dana Marie George

Graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She has been the field of graphic design for over 8 years working in package design, print design, and now web design.

Dana enjoys traveling (recently to Australia, note the koala bear), country dancing, waterskiing, camping, hiking, going to movies, plays, musicals, broadway productions, and her church activities.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Kenneth Tyler George

 

Graduated from Texas A & M University in Mechanical Engineering. He is a Software Engineer for a Medical Firm and is married to Melissa A. (Woerner), also an Aggie Grad, and graduate of Southwest Medical School in Dallas. She is a Doctor of Internal Medicine. They live in Texas.

They are the proud parents of Ethan Daniel George.

They enjoy traveling to the National Parks.

Doc, the blue and gold macaw, is 26 years old. His vocabulary includes: "Go Tigers, Howdy, I'm an Aggie, Don't Mess with Texas, Merry Christmas, Happy Birthday, I Love You, Rise and Shine, Morning Glory" and much more!

 

Buckskin, a 6 yr. old rescued yellow lab, can catch just about anything you can throw in mid-air and dig up rocks from the bottoms of lakes and creeks. He loves to travel and go camping. He is a real sweety!
