Emma Catharine Hillis, the sixth child of William Hillis and Catharine Simpson was born Dec. 3, 1855 on a farm near Mt. Pleasant, PA. She married at age 24 to Clemence Henry Harrold Oct. 23, 1879. Late in life after 1917 she wore an eye patch on her left eye. No one remembers why. She d. Sept. 29, 1937 and is buried in Harrold's Cemetery.

 

 

Emma Catharine and Clemence Henry Harrold had the following children:

 

Ada Catharine Harrold b. Aug. 29, 1880 Youngwood, Westmoreland, PA m.1) Sept. 10, 1905 Seth Atherton, m.2) Tinner Brown, d. Apr. 18, 1959.

 

Lyman George Harrold b. Apr. 4, 1882 Youngwood, Westmoreland, PA m. Dora Ellen Hall June 17, 1908 Youngwood, PA. d. June 8, 1977 and is buried at Harrold's Cmt.

 

Ivy Mae Harrold b. Aug. 3, 1884 in Youngwood, never married but raised 2 Atherton girls for her sister. d. Oct. 27, 1976 and is buried at Harrold's Cmt.

 

Mary Emma Harrold b. Nov. 30, 1886 Youngwood, m. Sept. 1, 1909 to Homer George Gettamy in Youngwood, d. June 13, 1976 in Youngwood and is buried at Harrold's Cmt.

 

Homer Hillis Harrold b. June 13, 1889 Youngwood, m. Anna M. Crock Apr. 25, 1911, d. Aug. 15, 1979 in Greensburg, PA

 

Roy Clarence Harrold b. Feb. 25, 1892 in Youngwood d. Apr. 12, 1957 in Youngwood and is buried at Harrold's Cmt.

 

Paul Harrold b. Feb. 7, 1896 Youngwood, PA d. Oct. 29, 1981 Youngwood and is buried at Harrold's Cmt.
