George Denny
is the
mystery man in the Denny line.
Later census records
indicated that he was born in 1800 but did not indicate where
or to whom. He appeared in Calloway Co., KY to buy land in
Wadesboro in 1825. He married Ruth
Peter in 1827
in Calloway Co., KY where they had 6 children:

(1839/40-?). George was appointed commissioner for the building
of a courthouse in Calloway Co. in 1830. He was listed as a
buyer at several estate sales in 1837 and 1838. In June 1839 he
is listed as the Justice of Peace for the appraisal of an
estate and 8 months later, his own estate is being sold! No
probate, no death certificate, no tombstone, no guardianship
papers...he dies as mysteriously as he arrived at the age of
40.

After the death of her husband she moved her 6 children with
her to McCracken Co., KY to Woodville, by 1850. She lived with
her oldest son, James
R. Denny through
the 1880 census.
Their oldest
daughter, Mary
"Polly" Denny
married in 1853 to William
Bobo in
McCracken Co., KY. They had at least 3 children:
Martha
Bobo(1854-1866),
Emily Bobo
(1863-?), and
Isabel
BoBo.
Daughter,
Nancy

married in 1850 to William
A. Purcell in
Marshall Co., KY. They had one child, Mary
Purcell (1852-?).
William died in 1852. Nancy married again in 1857 to a widower,
Granville
Johnson
(1820-1863). He brought Elizabeth
"Lizzie" Johnson (1850-??
and Charley
Johnson (1854-1936)
into the marriage and they had George
Johnson
(1859-60) and Arena
Johnson
(1862-?). Then Granville died in 1863. Nancy married first at
age 18, widowed by age 21, remarried at age 26 and widowed
again by age 32. She had not remarried by 1870.
